I do agree that Ethan Allen is going downhill.

I wanted to add to my collection of 1970's wood furniture. E.A. only makes laminated and metal pieces. The sales reps were horribly helpless. Very disappointing for me, a forever owner of E.A., to experience the lack of interest! The sales reps could not give me any history of the furniture which I would think would be readily available. And, they could not and/or did not want to give me any more "where-to-go" information. Very, very sad about E.A. I am afraid to buy from E.A. and will look for other much more reputable stores for additions and/or replacements.

Through my own exhausted efforts, I have discovered that my kind of Ethan Allen furniture purchased between 1978-****, is now sold in antique stores/outlets, although not all my pieces can be found.

Ethan Allen is my definition of "cheap" and the employees have been trained to sell to the throw-away generation...use it, abuse it, and throw it away because you will NEVER find it again in E.A.

I bought my dark pine EA dining table and chairs in 1977, I do not like my chairs anymore as it has captain arms, I would love to find chairs that match my table without arms but just unable to, can not find ANYWHERE!! or a buffet table, I have a feeling people are keeping these fine pieces as furniture is not made this way anymore!

I have some Ethan Allen pieces from the early sixties and I swear the junk thats made today does not compare. I have been looking for new master bedroom furniture and just cannot bring myself to buy any of the *** that I see.

I'm really disappointed in the direction taken by the company since being bought out in the early 90's. Modern is not always better.

I started buying EA furniture in the 60's (Heirloom & Cherry) b/c we were told it was always open stock & would always be available. My mom bought the mahogany finish.

Today, none of it can be replaced if we had to. That's too bad

Well I have some 1960's and 70's EA maple furniture that has been awesum. When I bought new furniture from EA 3 years ago, I mentioned this and the designer got out a old catalog and showed it to me, much to my surprise of course.

My buying experience has been nothing less than exceptional. I've never had any delivary issues, quality issues, ect. My designer has been extremely knowledgeable and can recommend a transformation of any room in my house, from paint color to the fabric type and color in 1hr.

So to say the least, I'm bewildered at the volume and types of complaints about EA... I guess I'm fortunate.

I have the 1970's dark pine furniture. I love it and it will be around for years of service.

They still are the best, but like most things now, they are not as good as the older furniture. That is when people took pride in what they made...not this made in China junk. I have some pieces for sale if anyone is interested.

My daughter is getting married and I am moving to a smaller home. :)

Do you happen to have the Classic Manor cannonball bed in king size? I am interested.

I am planning to buy some new furnitures from EA soon. After reading these reviews, I am concerned. And not certain at this point, if I should spend so much hard earned money on EA furnitures :(

It's a sad state of affairs in this day and age when a person can no longer purchase a quality piece of furniture and it be just that, quality. I have a hand-me-down end table and coffee table that my mother bought in 1981, 1 year after my birth.

The coffee table could safely hold an adult elephant if you needed to prop one up about a foot or so. The end table is less strudy, but has a glass top, otherwise I'd say the same. Both are of solid wood construction and not particle/ply wood. There is no sub-standard construction at all.

I've looked at reviews of many different furniture companies, but thus far have been all but disillusioned on buying any other furniture. This is a problem since my fiance would like to buy new furniture for a 4 bedroom house.

That's 3 bedrooms, 1 office, a livingroom and a dining room. Maybe we need to look at antique stores to find quality furniture that will still be good when we're retired in 30 years.
