Beware Leather Recliners/Chairs
We bought two matching leather recliners. The leather was rated L-5 (highest rating L-7).
After about 18 months, the headrest began losing its dark gray color, and underneath the exterior color was a LIGHT gray, telling me that the exterior color was APPLIED by some other process other than dying the leather. The swatch that came with the chairs showed a completely dyed dark gray color (false advertising??). And to top it all off, the leather is ONLY WARRANTED for ONE YEAR!!! Ethan Allen has the same cheap-*** warranty that Rooms-to-Go, Haverty's, Ashley, et al, all now have.
Also, these chairs were made in MEXICO!! The chairs cost over $2000 each, and to be made in MEXICO is a slap in the face to it's loyal customers who have purchased Ethan Allen furniture for decades, and who assume the Ethan Allen quality has remained the same. Well, it ain't so! What happened to this company is a travesty, and it's only a matter of time before it goes into bankruptcy!
The CEO of this corporation needs to GO!
Put an American back in charge and send this foreigner HOME to wherever he came from! Restore the name 'Ethan Allen' back to what it was.

Bad business ethics of Ethan Allen Bellevue WA
hope that my experience could serve as a warning for all the future customers. Ethan Allen have a bad business ethics and sales hungry where they will promise and guaranty something to make a sale.
People who's involved Store Manager : Sue Tuttle Sales associate: Xichuan Li (Show Li) Design Consultant: Britney Whitney My mother is in the market for some new couches for our living room, she doesn't really speak any English so when she was looking for furnitures she saw Ethan Allen provided Chinese translations and services. We were assigned by a Designer named Xichuan Li who speaks Chinese and who teamed with Brittany Whitney and their store manager Sue Tuttle. They suggested give them a budget of forty nine thousand US dollars. Though not knowing what the market price was, my mother wired forty nine US dollars, because they have told her to have a bigger budget if she doesn't like the items they can return them.
Xichuan Li had told my mother that "they wanted to see how the home would feel with the stuff they picked " Remember, my mom asked for two couches and a couple of paintings. On December 12th we received a call saying on the 13th the designer will show up and help decorate the furniture that we ordered. On December 13th a large trucked stopped in front of our home with two mover without an designer asking to unload all the stuff. We were really confused because we had only order two couches and possibly a couple of paintings.
So we called Ethan Allen asking where's the designer and what we gonna do with all 75 items ranging from table tops, vases, 30+wall paintings and a invoices of over 50k. We wanted to refuse the shipment and told both the truckers and the store a gal from Ethan Allen. She said her manager told us just unload the stuff and they will have a designer(Britney) tomorrow as it was her day off. So I asked her if the items will be returnable after it's unloaded she said yes, The next day at 4pm the designer came with 1 designer (Britney), 1 Chinese interpreter,1 wall painting hanger(which cost 180 for less than 2 hours of work) and 1 helper.
They stuffed everything they could to max out the budget. Mother said that's enough, first we didn't order this many stuff and second it doesn't fit our likings and ask them to halt the project and return the items expect the couches we had actually wanted. They begin to sound demanding where she tells my mother " I really like these paintings on your wall , why don't you like it" my mother repeatedly telling Dante to translate she doesn't like the paintings and they don't fit the house like the way she wanted. Then the designer told her that we had ordered and paintings it would be 15% restocking fee if were returned, my mother said that's not what the sales consultant told her and we asked for Xichuan to clear things up what she has told my mother.
They said Xichuan don't work with us anymore whom took all the commissions from our sales over 50k worth of items. Then those people left. After 1 week of no response we called the Ethan Allen Bellevue store and they said they were busy and will have the truck come pick up the items we wanted to return on day 1. After a few days, stuff were still not picked up.
Soon another week goes by where we constantly contacting them. The reply we got was the store manager Sue Tuttle stated Ethan Allen wasn't liking the idea of us returning the paintings which was bought with their sale's intended making commissions. So we had to confront her multiple times to return the items that we don't want and didn't even order on the first place. Finally we had to come to an conclusion where the manager too felt it was unethical on what Xichuan Li as an sales consultant did and agree to refund but here's the problem, before we purchased anything it was said that if return it would return on method we wanted.
The payment was wired from China where I first stated in the beginning so having Ethan Allen wiring back where it would lose value due to currency exchange rate is different and fees that would be collected on the receiving side. So we began to telling the manager where they promised will be returned to our US Visa card/account. She begin to feel irritated and sound tone has changed to hostile then telling us we were "circulating around and don't know what arrangement we had made, she also said "actually, I don't even know we refund international wire or not. You may not get any refund." She then beginning to denying a lot of stuff that we talked about saying she didn't know anything about this arrangement, even though Xichuan Li stated without Sue's permission she wouldn't be able to place our order.
At the same time, Xichuan recommended the return be refunded to store credits where we trade with her other customer for cash under the table!
I refused, because it sounds so wrong to me! Overall, I do NOT recommend shop at Ethan Allen Bellevue Store.

Carpet not what I ordeted
Ethan Allen wrong finish will not admit fault
I ordered 2 side kick glass top bunching tables from Ethan Allen based on a white wood sample board that the decorator showed me in the showroom. The store did not have the tables in stock to show me only the internet photos.
When the tables were delivered they were a distressed finish - I was never informed by the sales associate that the finish was distressed - the sample board did not appear distressed.
They refuse to take them back and say they are the correct finish - no matter the finish I was not informed of distress and should not have to keep these. First photo what I was shown at the store(I just happened to take a photo) and 2nd photo what I got!!!

Ethan Allen - Bed Review from Rancho Santa Margarita, California
First of all let me say that I have saved for a very long time to buy quality furniture. My family has been an Ethan Allen buying family.
We have never really had issues and if we did they were taken care of. I quess times have changed. I had issues with my Chloe bed right away. There was a little section where the finish was worn off.
Ethan Allen sent someone to fix it. Well, about a year later the spot where it had been fixed was all rubbed off along with five other spots!!! The finish just keeps rubbing off!!! I had someone back out ( the same guy) and said he couldn't fix it.
That the bed would have to all be redone. Guess what!!! Yup, nothing!!! They told me it wasn't their problem!!!
Are they serious!!!!! The finish is not staying put on the bed.. How is that my fault???!!!!! On top of that I have a current order placed;(.
I need to cancel it!! I am shocked at the lack of workmanship they have put into the product and even more so at the lack of responsibility!! This is a company where the customer is not right!!
BUYERS BEWARE is what the slogan should be!! Very upset that I saved up for 20 years to buy this bedroom set and now I have a piece of *** for the focal point!!!!!!!!!!They should use this bed in their store!!
Riley desk is horrible
Recently purchased the Riley desk. Assumed for $1000 dollars it would be a quality item.
It is not. The finish looks cheap and the draw sticks out 1/2" from the frame (looks like it was designed to do this). Cheap, Made in China, rubbish. Will try and return but that means deailing with customer service.
Frustrating because I could have paid much less for a similar quality desk.
The company shouldn't market itself as a premium brand when this is the kind of furniture it is making. We had always paid extra to buy well made furniture at Ethan Allen but we won't be making the same mistake twice!

Don't buy carpet from this company!
We purchased a sofa, recliner, and custom carpet from Ethan Allen almost three years ago. The carpet was low pile with a geometric design stitched on top.
After a couple of months the top design began to "unstitch," and this progressed to the point that EA replaced the rug with a new one eleven months after purchase. Now two years after purchase it is unstitched again in places. This carpet cost almost $3,000 for an area rug. EA says the warranty is over, although we have the same problem again.
It looks great in the room from afar, but I doubt it will last five years because it is falling apart. We are a retired couple and it gets little wear. It is in a television room and not in a heavy traffic area.
Other purchases were fine, and design services were excellent. Rug a "bust."

DO NOT SHOP ETHAN ALLEN WHIPPANY DESIGN CENTER. Ethan Allen used to be good.
I have been a longstanding customer and purchased tens of thousands of dollars there. I recently bought a table and chairs from them. On the main Ethan Allen website it said the table was in stock and ready to ship. It was a non-customized stock piece.
I also bought some chairs that were customized. Everything arrived and the finish for the chairs was way off and looked horrible - almost black when it was supposed to be mahogany - so the whole set looked horrendous. I called the main Ethan Allen number they said design centers usually take back non-customized pieces for a restocking fee that varied by design center. No such luck with Whippany.
The would not even discuss taking back the table that was clearly a stock piece.
I could not believe I was getting that kind of service after all the furniture I bought from them that included at least three bedroom sets, four sofas, a coffee table and multiple lamps and wall art.I have never had such customer service in my life from any place. I will never use Ethan Allen again nor refer them.The table looks great in the store, but in my home it was obvious it looked cheap next to my better furniture and was told so by my friends.
